Spain is known for a lot of things like its stunning landscapes, buzzing cities and of course, its tapas. A meal made of small, sharable plates can include a variety of options, but a staple is usually a cured meat. Cinco Jotas, Spain’s premier Ibérico ham, is made from acorn-fed pata negra pigs that roam the south’s forests (no cages here). A master carver intricately slices the paper-thin pieces and arranges them into a work of art on the plate. The delicate gourmet treat can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a dish accentuating its nutty, sweet flavors.

To celebrate this classic Spanish dish, Cinco Jotas is hosting its second GastroTour in America. The event, which originated in London, was hosted last year in New York City. This year, the tour arrives to South Florida. From Oct. 20 – Nov. 3 diners can enjoy special dishes that highlight the Cinco Jotas ham curated by some of the area’s most celebrated chefs. The GastroTour encourages patrons to visit the 13 participating restaurants for a chance to win a Cinco Jotas gift basket.
