The centennial celebrations keep on coming, and next week, the Boca Raton Historical Society is hosting a tribute to Addison Mizner and The Addison, which celebrates its own centennial in November.

The program, “In Mizner’s Footsteps: Explore the Legacy, Toast the Vision” is hosted by the Boca Raton Historical Society on Aug. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Addison. The event will include a cocktail reception, passed bites, and perhaps most exciting for history and design buffs, a guided tour of the property.

The Addison events venue first opened in 1925 as the Administration Building, serving as the headquarters for the Mizner Development Corporation. Engineers and architects worked from the building to design The Boca Raton (at that time, Cloister Inn) and dorms were also built for resort staff. The property is also the site of the city’s first restaurant, where architect Addison Mizner would wine and dine dignitaries.

In honor of its impending centennial, The Addison donated $100,000 to area nonprofits earlier this summer. The Boca Raton Historical Society was one of the grant winners.

Tickets for “In Mizner’s Steps” are $85 and can be purchased here. Proceeds will benefit the society and The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum.
