Delray Beach Police Chief Russ Mager has resigned after 29 years with the department.

His departure comes two days after Boca magazine published excerpts of his email to City Manager Terrence Moore, where he shared concerns that the city’s failure to approve a new police contract is causing staffing shortages that threaten the department’s quality of service.

Mager was appointed chief of police in 2022, replacing Javaro Sims upon his retirement.

We will have more in our City Watch blog on Tuesday.
