This season’s cast of “The Bachelorette” was stacked with Florida residents, but now there is one lone Florida man vying for a rose. John Mitchell, 25, is one of 13 men wooing bachelorette Jenn Tran (who is from Miami).
We took a deep dive into the Delray Beach man’s background.
Originally from Tallahassee, Mitchell moved down to South Florida as a pre-med student at Florida Atlantic University, then earned his masters degree in biomedical science and is now working to become a surgeon. He is also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
As if school didn’t keep him busy enough, Mitchell also played on the FAU football team as a wide receiver, including helping the team win the AAC conference championship in 2019 under Coach Lane Kiffin. After college, he was an undrafted free agent for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and then played as a tight end for the UFL’s Memphis Showboats.
Facts he shared with the network: he is “obsessed” with Christmas, played Ping-Pong for 36 hours straight, is learning Spanish on Duolingo, and it’s been his lifelong goal to become a doctor. Mitchell is described as “a smart, athletic stud with a heart of gold.”
Two other men on this season of “The Bachelorette” were also from Florida: Brian Autz of Boynton Beach and Ricky Marinez of Miami. But alas, we are keeping our eyes on Mitchell to watch a hometown hero make it to the top. Tran is also in the medical field—she’s studying to become a physician’s assistant—so perhaps his knowledge of medicine and deep understanding of Publix pub subs will win her heart.
“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m. EST and streams the next day on Hulu.
