Last time I talked to Dennis Max he said he had a couple more restaurant tricks up his sleeve and now we know what they are.
In Deerfield Beach he’s planning a late October opening for Frank & Dino’s, a good ol’ Italian-American red sauce joint inspired by. . . duh, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The new F&D’s will move into the South Federal Highway spot formerly occupied by Marcello Ristorante. Chef will be Bernino Orsino of La Veranda, who’ll be cooking up such much-loved standbys as veal picatta and snapper oreganata.
Then in November look to Boca Raton, where Max’s casual Italian concept will debut. Called Assaggio del Forno, it will cash in on the artisanal pizza craze and feature a wood-fired oven brought over from Italy. Small plates, a salumi bar and lots of pastas will be on the menu. I’ll have more details on both restaurants in a later posting but these are something to look forward to.
And, btw, if you haven’t checked out Max’s Harvestin Delray yet, you’re missing out on some of the best food in Palm Beach County. This place is the real deal.
