Ever been to a health and wellness festival? We haven’t either.
This weekend, the Hilton West Palm Beach and CityPlace are partnering to give guests and locals the chance to participate in fitness classes, sample healthy foods and drinks, learn about nutrition, and shop for new gear this Friday and Saturday. The best part? The event is totally free.
“It’s been on our minds for about a year,” says John Parkinson, the general manager of the Hilton West Palm Beach. “We embrace health at the hotel, with yoga on the lawn on Saturdays and boot camps. We thought the community would like it.”
Hilton, which has a “Thrive” culture, offers nutrition and fitness classes for team members, Parkinson says. He asked employees what they’d like to see at a health and wellness festival, and District Fit was born.
The festival starts on Thursday, March 29 with a vegan wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. on the lawns of the Hilton. Chef Miguel Santiago and Adam Lipson of VeganApproved are partnering to bring diners an entirely vegan meal, from the food to the wine, Parkinson says.
On Friday and Saturday, classes and activities will run all day at Hilton West Palm Beach and CityPlace. Look for yoga with Natalie Segal, HIIT boot camp with Anthony Mendez, cardio dance by Fitness Hub Studios, Fit Kids by CrossFit El Cid and more. Parkinson is looking forward to the underwater spin class, called Water Cycle.
“It’s in the pool at the Hilton,” he says. “It was so popular we had to add extra classes.”
Classes and activities are for people of all ages and all fitness levels. Parkinson says his team is already looking at dates in October to make the festival a bi-annual event.
