We run errands, pop in and out of work and meetings and appointments and figure out how much we can get done in the next hour of the day.
Our worlds can be exhausting these days so there’s nothing like allowing a pause through service.
A few friends and I put the “everyday busy” on hold for a bit each month this past year and stepped inside the Fuller Center as part of its Adopt-a-Class program.
It was a simple way to serve.
It was fun.
And my goodness, was it rewarding. Not just for us, but for our children when they tagged along and most importantly, for the Fuller Center children and their teachers.

The Fuller Center’s two Boca Raton campuses support under-resourced families and children through education, after-school and summer programs, as well as teen leadership and family-centered services.
We planned engaging crafts and activities that fostered creativity and sparked joy. We read books and took outdoor walks to ignite curiosity in their little hearts and minds.
Adopting a class is just one way to help.
The Fuller Center is also looking for ambassadors for local kids though its new Auxiliary Committee. The Fuller Auxiliary Committee members will serve as champions for local children in need, ambassadors to the community, and advocates for working families. Volunteers and ambassadors will network, recruit mentors, assist in organizing fundraising events, participate in and identify speaking engagements, and help reverse the cycle of poverty for many children and families in our community.

You can learn more by joining Fuller Center for a happy hour on Monday, July 10 at Yard House, 201 Plaza Real in Mizner Park in Boca Raton from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Appetizers and cocktails will be served, and tickets are $35. Contact Alana Lagerström at alagerstrom@fullercenterfl.org or call 561-391-7274 for tickets and event information.
