Empty Bowls Delray returns for its 8th year to fight hunger in Palm Beach County by inviting guests to a simple yet savory meal. Hosted by the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB), all funds raised will benefit the Food Bank’s efforts to feed the growing number of those in the county that are struggling with food insecurity.
“Year-round we serve 200,000 food-insecure people in Palm Beach County,” says PBCFB CEO Jamie Kendall. “The holiday season can come with stress for a lot of families. It’s up to us, and Empty Bowls participants, to ensure they have a holiday meal to put on the table and that they are nourished going into the new year.”
The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at Trinity Delray Lutheran Church and School between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a meal of soup provided by local restaurants, bread baked fresh from Old School Bakery, and a bottle of water. The humble meal serves as a reminder to “eat simply so others may simply eat.” Live music and entertainment will also be provided, and colorful, hand-crafted bowls will be available for purchase.
Participating restaurants for this year’s Empty Bowls Delray include Palm Trail Grill, Abe and Louie’s, Caffe Luna Rosa, Eat Thai, J&J Seafood Bar and Grill, Latitudes at Delray Sands, Longhorn Steakhouse Delray, Space of Mind Community Classroom Project, Tin Muffin and Woodfield Country Club. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here.
