Encouraged by friends and colleagues to leave a highly successful career in the music
business to pursue his gift of comedy, Byron Kennedys irreverent, observational style
and natural storytelling panache immediately gelled with audiences across the nation,
moving him quickly from open mic nights to opening slots to feature gigs to multiple
runs in Las Vegas to now headlining gigs across the country. The explanation for his faststart is exceedingly simple: “I fucking hate meetings.”
Declared the Leonardo DaVinci Of Radio by broadcast legend Howard Stern for namingan upstart radio station “Howard 93-7,” Kennedy built an impressive rsum at a CBSRadio and, later, a top Nashville record label. Happily, it made him miserable. “I keptgetting promoted into executive roles and felt like an impostor,” he says. Dragged onstageat an open mic night, he heard his calling. “I did two shots, told a few stories and gotsome laughs. Then we went out and celebrated like I’d just killed it on The Tonight Show.The next morning, I was certain this was all I wanted to do.”
Kennedy’s natural comedic flair gelled quickly, earning opening and feature gigs
nationwide, including multiple runs in Las Vegas. “When I started leaning into this thing,the opportunities to share my craft started to pop up,” he says. “I can’t explain it, butwhen you land that first laugh, there’s no turning back.”Jumping into 2022 at full speed, Kennedy not only kick started the new year with thelaunch of his podcast Hot Chicken & Cage-Free Conversation that features specialguests ranging from artists to music industry power players, professional athletes andmore, the comedian also hit the road with award-winning Country artist Jimmie Allenfor his Down Home Tour 2022, just released his debut song Hope The Stupid Goes Away(feat. The Sideways Sallys), and is currently booked solid this spring with even moreshows being announced soon.
