Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and the Florida Atlantic Alumni Association present the “Night of the Giving Dead” Halloween costume party on Friday, Oct. 31, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., at The Addison, 2 East Camino Real, Boca Raton. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at fauf.fau.edu/givingdead. Valet parking is $5 per vehicle. Attendees must be 21 or older.
Guests will be treated to a ghoulishly fun night of dancing, dining and entertainment. The Addison, a Five Star Diamond Award winning event venue, will be transformed into a frightening funhouse with a full open premium bar, including specialty Halloween inspired cocktails; heavy passed hors D’oeuvres, like The Addison Prime Sliders; food stations including Pasta, Flatbread Pizza Bianca, and taco bar; an ice cream bar; and sweet treats passed throughout the evening.
There will also be dancing all night with music provided by SAMURAI, a six-member group led by Bryan Sanchez, along with past and present members of Florida Atlantic’s Hoot/Wisdom commercial music band, playing high energy dance music such as hits from the 80s and 2000s. The DJ Bryan Thompson will also fill in to keep the dancing going.
The Addison was built by famed architect Addison Minzer in 1926 and is one of the most popular private event venues in South Florida.
Net proceeds from this event will benefit student scholarships in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The College is home to the largest number of academic departments at Florida Atlantic, providing degrees in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Communication and Multimedia Studies, Architecture and Public Administration.
