Sick Puppies Comedy Presents Broads: A Night of Stand-Up Comedy
And Fundraiser for Dress for Success Palm Beaches
LAKE WORTH, FL – April 9, 2018 Sick Puppies Comedy will host Broads: A Night of Stand-Up Comedy this, May 18th at 9 PM at the Center of the Performing Arts. This event is geared to empower and strengthen women in the aftermath of the #Metoo and #Timesup movements. “I was stunned and brokenhearted to learn that so many women and men went through the silent devastation of being sexually harassed and assaulted by those in a position of power,” said Kim Huapaya, comic and producer of Broads Comedy. “It’s when I heard a first-hand account from a fellow comic, that I knew my sympathy was not going to be enough.”
“My experience was never like that. No matter what city or country I traveled to, I always had a band of comedy brothers and sisters. It didn’t even matter if it was my first time in a new place.” On May 18th at 9PM, let’s create our own band of brothers and sisters and face the darkness with the blazing light of comedy. Bringing some of the best stand-up comics in South Florida.
Audience participation is needed. There will be a live TV taping. Members of the audience will be asked questions before and after the show. Dress for Success will be in attendance to answer questions and accept additional donations.
Half of the night’s proceeds with benefit Dress for Success Palm Beaches. Their mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
And finally, there will be a raffle. Please bring a fresh pack of unopened ladies’ underwear for a ticket to win a dinner for two at a fancy restaurant.
Tickets are selling fast, what a great way to donate to a worth cause and a have a fun Friday night out. “We are expecting a lot of support from the community. Sexual harassment and assault effects every walk of life both female and male” said Huapaya. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”, Helen Keller.
