A pair of Palm Beach restaurant vets have taken their latest dining act from the ritzy “Island” to bucolic, horsey Wellington.
Vittorio Divivo, whose secret garden-esque Victor’s Café was one of Palm Beach’s best-loved local eateries (until it closed a couple months ago), has teamed up with former Bice front of the house maven Christian Weibel to create Franco Italian Bistro (10160 Forest Hill Blvd., 561/615-1551) in the sprawling Wellington Mall.
Chef is Italian native Mateo Vicinanza, whose local resume includes stints as a private chef and at Cucina dell’Arte in Palm Beach. His menu includes a variety of “personal pizzas,” from Margherita to shrimp with pesto, as well as house-made mozzarella, penne Bolognese, chicken alla Fiorentina and almond-crusted salmon.
The space itself is done in warm earth tones, with a gleaming dark-wood bar, small outdoor patio and trio of clocks giving the time in London, Rome and Buenos Aries. Time for a nice plate of pasta and a glass of Chianti, I’d say.
