Oh my Gaga!
On Saturday afternoon, Boca Raton shoppers crowded near the heart of Town Center to watch a fierce Lady Gaga-inspired fashion show.
The outrageous “Design Wars” Gaga challenge was a small highlight of Simon Fashion Now— a two-day event packed with fashion shows, giveaways, in-store specials and local celebrity appearances.
For the avant-garde challenge, 10 local designers (Ashley Amrich, Cilia Antoniou, Adan Bravo & Ana Herrera, Denisse Martinez, Katherine McDermott, Maria Nuñez, Gina Palazzi, Sergio Silva, Elaine Timerman and Sam Velázquez) were selected to showcase their outrageous Gaga-esque garments.
Michelle Visage of 93.9 MIA FM, American Idol Season 10 contestant Brett Loewenstern, and City Links lifestyle and fashion blogger Joanie Cox were in charge of judging the eye-catching looks based on creativity, wearability and Gaga-inspiration.
The little monster leader would have loved the outfits, which featured camera lenses, hair, sheer fabrics, leather, spikes, mirrors and glitter. (To see photos of all the looks, check out our Facebook page!)
Afterward the catwalk, the designers were briefly interviewed about their inspirations and design process.
The judges announced Timerman as the winner. Her unique look featured a camera lens and film strips. Timerman was presented with a $500 American Express® Simon Giftcard.
All of the Gaga looks will remain on display in Nordstrom through Thursday, September 29. Shoppers can vote for their “Fan Favorite” design via text. The winning designer will receive a $250 American Express® Simon Giftcard. Stop by and vote today!
