Do you like scary movies? How about a haunted house or two? Perhaps a chance to be spooked for a bit during the Halloween season?
If so, this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort is worth the trip, a special event that has been created with care, making it one of the most creative experiences for those who love all things spooky.
Orlando is a fun and quick road trip for South Florida locals, and those who visit for this event will feel inspired to celebrate the incoming fall season—as well as all the scary fun that comes with it.
Halloween Horror Nights features 10 haunted houses that offer walkthroughs scary enough to make you scream and shudder, while also taking in the creative and immersive experience. It’s a good type of scare, one where you’re targeted by the talented scare actors and all those eerie renditions of good old bumps in the night.

Some of the best houses that visitors will encounter at Halloween Horror Nights are the big-name ones, but others that have been artfully created with new characters in original houses created by Universal are just as great, so expect a journey full of energy.
“Insidious: The Further” was one of the scariest of the big-name houses, and you will feel completely immersed in it alongside characters from the films—such as The Red Faced Demon and KeyFace—once you are trapped in the movie’s “The Further” realm. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” will make you feel as if you are part of the journey with those that are not afraid of ghosts when you enter the icy environment. Then there’s “A Quiet Place,” where no one makes a sound (or at least tries!) to avoid creatures looking for blood.
As for the other Halloween Horror Nights houses, there are some beautifully created ones, such as “Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines.” A favorite one from my experience at the event, it will creep you out as you come face to face with Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Frankenstein fighting against the daughter of Dracula and her loyal monsters.
This year’s scare zones are exciting, and a favorite is the area focusing on Blumhouse Productions’ characters and movies. From “Meghan” to “Happy Death Day” and “The Purge,” the creepy characters are happy to surround you, scare you—and maybe even stop their current moment of murderous rage for a selfie.
Halloween Horror Nights also features an array of unique snacks and drinks based on each themed house. We recommend stopping by the “Ghostbusters” and “Insidious” food and drink stands, two of the best ones at the event.
You won’t regret it.
