Boca West Children’s Foundation (BWCF) is once again hosting its annual diaper drive, but this year it’s aiming higher than ever before.
Last year, the BWCF donated more than 300,000 diapers collected from Boca West residents to Diaper Bank Covering South Florida, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing the overwhelming diaper demand in our community. For 2025, the BWCF has expanded the scope of its diaper drive, bringing in other local neighborhoods and clubs to hit the goal of collecting one million diapers by Feb. 28.
Boca West Children’s Foundation Executive Director Pamela Weinroth says of the goal, “I knew it would capture people’s attention at a million. Five-hundred thousand’s not going to do it, but a million will.”
Organizations and neighborhoods participating in the diaper drive (there are a dozen total) will compete in a friendly competition for bragging rights of who can bring in the most diapers—an often overlooked need in the community.
“One in two families nationwide struggles to afford diapers, and government programs do not cover this basic necessity,” says Weinroth.
“You cannot put a child in daycare without supplying diapers. If your child doesn’t go to daycare, you can’t work,” says Weinroth. “So the idea is to keep families working and contributing to the community. Everyone feels better about it. We need the services, we need the parents working, and the kids need the socialization in the daycare.”
Weinroth encourages the community to make monetary donations rather than diaper donations, as the Diaper Bank can purchase diapers wholesale at a lower cost than what donors would pay for retail. Donations can be made directly to Boca West Children’s Foundation at 20583 Boca West Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33434, or online here.
Each participating neighborhood and group will have its own designated drop-off locations and donation links. To find out where to donate in your community, reach out to BWCF at 561/488-6980, or make a donation on the BWCF website and put the name of your group or neighborhood in the “additional comments” field.
