People in need seek a hand up, not a handout, and Boca Raton-based Her 2nd Chance has practiced this for countless women in recovery.
Its inaugural fundraiser, a High Tea, takes place at The Addison on March 26 at 11:30 a.m. Attendees will be able to purchase items created by employees of Her 2nd Chance as well as cheer on Nancy Pulte Rickard, who will be awarded the Her 2nd Chance Award for her family’s foundation’s good deeds.
“Recovery touches nearly every family, whether through a personal experience or someone they love,” Christopher Malfitano, Her 2nd Chance board president, said in a media release. “South Florida was once the center of Florida’s opioid epidemic, and our work continues to play a vital role in helping women reenter the workforce and rebuild their lives with dignity and stability.”
Marta Batmasian and Zoe Lanham will serve as honorary chairs for the milestone soiree.

Founded in 2018, the nonprofit provides job training and mentorship to women in recovery from drugs and alcohol, and this month, they’re hosting their very first fundraiser. Most notably, they create personalized accessories such as coffee mugs, tumblers, ornaments, jewelry and other items that are sold online. Last April, the nonprofit celebrated surpassing $1 million in wages paid to women in the program.
Tickets for the High Tea are $125, and proceeds benefit Her 2nd Chance’s programming that provides employment, job training and empowerment activities for women in recovery. To purchase tickets, click here.
