Huizenga Park officially reopens this weekend with a schedule of activities. The two-year, $15 million project by Perkins&Will reimagined the Fort Lauderdale park into a contemporary space that’s walkable and accessible to all.

The park features downtown’s first dog run, dedicated play spaces for children, expanded seating along the river, two public art installations from Manolo Valdés and Cey Adams and will debut a waterfront restaurant, Sweetwaters, later this year.

Tomorrow there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. followed by guided park tours and an evening movie on the lawn at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, the festivities continue with the Sunny Side Up Market from noon to 4 p.m., a yoga session at 11 a.m. and a guided meditation at sunset.
