Local marine conservation nonprofit The Coastal Stewards is hosting its first beach clean-up of the year, and they’re inviting the community to join in.
On Jan. 18, The Coastal Stewards will welcome volunteers to clean a stretch of beach near their Ocean Ridge headquarters. Clean-up supplies and refreshments will be provided, and water shoes, sunscreen and hats are recommended. The clean-up will start at 9 a.m. and last roughly an hour, after which volunteers are invited to join in on a discovery session to learn more about the effects of pollution on marine life.
Last year, The Coastal Stewards hosted 12 beach clean-up events that removed nearly 10,000 pieces of plastic from the coastline and beautified 2.5 square miles of beach. To learn more and RSVP for clean up, click here.
