Before it gets too hot to cook and too humid to eat, check out the latest cookbook from the Junior League of Boca Raton.

Titled Savor the Moment: Entertaining Without Reservations, it’s almost 300 pages of beautifully photographed and laid out recipes from more than 400 cooks, chefs and caterers, from simple snack-type dishes like curry and cayenne-spiked nuts to party bites like smoked salmon quesadillas and more substantial dishes ranging from spicy grilled lamb chops with marinated tomatoes to yellowtail snapper with orange-basil beurre blanc.

Sweet teeth will like the pear napoleon with apple cider cream, white chocolate mousse torte and truly decadent-sounding French toast baked in honey-pecan sauce. Myself, I’m looking forward to trying the cookbook’s Havana black beans recipe, which looks to be a whole lot better than my own.
