We may have already decorated for Christmas at our house (yep, guilty), but don’t think that we’re forgetting all about Turkey Day this year. There are so many things my family and I are grateful for this season, and this is one of them.
Festival of the Arts BOCA (and partner PNC Arts Alive) has added an awesome family show to their cultural line-up right before the Thanksgiving holiday. It will be held on Nov. 17 at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center.
The best part? It’s FREE!
Head to my favorite pink plaza that Saturday to catch one of two performances of “Tough Turkey in the Big City: A Feathered Tale” at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. “Tough Turkey” is an upbeat Thanksgiving story that will inspire kids of all ages using music, dance and drama. You’ll hear all about the story of Tom, a turkey from “the sticks,” who tours New York, stumbles onto the famed Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and falls for Midge, a Park Avenue pigeon (hey, it could happen!)
This festive show will be presented in collaboration with THE SYMPHONIA, South Florida’s world class chamber orchestra.
Your children’s imaginations will run wild at this performance. The bass trombone is the turkey; his friends on the farm are Farmer and Mrs. Brown (violin played in country fiddle style); Dudley Duck (trumpet with a wa-wa mute); Rudy Rooster (violin); and Gilda Gosling (clarinet). Music is the main character here.
Each show will be followed by an instrument petting zoo, giving Boca kids and their families the opportunity to see, touch and try various musical instruments. Complimentary refreshments will also be served. The Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center is located in between Yard House and Ouzo Bay and is a wonderful performing arts venue, if you haven’t been before.
Let’s celebrate the turkey before the Clause this year—time goes by too quickly as it is during the holiday season! Reserve your FREE tickets before they are gone.
Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center, 201 Plaza Real, Boca Raton; 866/571.2787; festivalboca.org/events
