Local teen golfers Catherine Andino and Morgan Rodríguez are making a name for themselves on Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour.

Andino, 14, from Boca Raton, recently won the girls’ division at the tour’s South Bend, Indiana stop, finishing the round at one under par. Andino says that while she’s happy with the win, she’s already looking ahead to next week’s tournament in San Antonio, then on to compete for the Curry Cup in New Jersey.

“The tour has been great, we play amazing courses,” says Andino. “I’m so happy that we get that opportunity, and you meet some great people, so overall it’s a great experience.”

Rodríguez, 16, from Delray Beach, was fresh off a victory at the PGA Junior Works when she signed on for Underrated Tour, which she says has opened up a new world of opportunities for her in the sport.

“The tour itself is filled with diversity, amazing competition, creating a fun and engaging environment which in turn has given me an amazing golf family that I am forever grateful for,” says Rodríguez.

Founded by four-time NBA Champion and two-time MVP Steph Curry, the Underrated Tour gives “underrated” and underrepresented groups an opportunity to shine on the links while opening up a network of mentors and sponsors. Now in its third year, the tour has assisted 20 student athletes in gaining golf scholarships.
