Max’s Grille, the iconic local eatery and one of Mizner Park’s first tenants, has been bought.

The group behind the purchase, Arka Restaurant Group (ARG), also owns Kaluz, a restaurant specializing in elevated American fare with locations in Wellington, Fort Lauderdale and Plantation. Following the deal with ARG, Max’s Grille will maintain its current in-house staff as well as “time-honored traditions and high standards diners have come to expect, with subtle modern updates,” per a press release. Arka Restaurant Group also hopes to eventually expand the restaurant to new locations.

Originally opened in 1991 by Burt Rapoport and Dennis Max, Rapoport took over as owner of Max’s Grille in 2018, adding the restaurant to Rapoport’s Restaurant Group’s portfolio that also includes Deck 84, Burt & Max’s, and Prezzo. A press release states that “Arka Restaurant Group’s decision to invest in Max’s Grille stems from its commitment to celebrating iconic brands in well-established and thriving communities.

“Boca Raton’s vibrant growth and Max’s Grille’s stellar reputation make this acquisition a natural fit.”
