After over a month of waiting patiently to find out who would be named the Junior League of Boca Raton’s Woman Volunteer of the Year, we finally have an answer.
Michelle Stallone was named Woman Volunteer of the Year for her work with the nonprofit Pinkball. Stallone founded Pinkball to raise funds to provide mammograms and breast ultrasounds to women without health insurance. Along with the award for Stallone, the Junior League of Boca Raton awarded a $2,500 grant to Pinkball.
Stallone was chosen from a list of 37 nominees that included volunteers from dozens of different nonprofit organizations.
In addition, Kirsten Stanley received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the Junior League of Boca Raton. She is a 16-year member of the organization, and also served as its president in 2015 and 2016. In addition to her work with the Junior League of Boca Raton, Stanley has served in leadership roles in a number of other organizations both locally and internationally.
The 2019 WVOY Luncheon was the 32nd annual iteration of the event, and celebrated volunteerism by women in the Boca Raton community. Amy Kazma served as the luncheon’s honorary chair, and Nicole Mugavero and Lisa Warren were co-chairs. The event featured a fashion show by A.L.C. and was sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue.
Jeannettee DeOrchis was last year’s winner, taking home the award for her volunteer work with Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse.
A full live-stream of the luncheon is available at the Junior League of Boca Raton’s facebook page.
