Exciting news for local kids ages 0-6! Starting August 4, they will have a fantastic new opportunity for hands-on creative play. The Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) in Fort Lauderdale is unveiling a brand-new 4,000-square-foot play area and permanent exhibit gallery focused on STEM learning. The Discovery Spot, presented by JM Family Enterprises, is all about helping young scientists take their first steps into the world of science. Get ready for fresh findings and tons of fun!
At the Discovery Spot, which replaces the former Discovery Center, small children will be able to splash, climb, tinker and explore (in the A/C, I might add). MODS’ original Discovery Center was a source of joy for more than 12 million guests from all over the world since its installation in 1992. It became a favorite destination for visitors from every state and countless countries.
The new Discovery Spot gallery will encourage the museum’s littlest guests to make exciting encounters through experiences in the freshly reimagined Citrus Grove, Ocean to Air and Everglades areas. It has been designed as a one-of-a-kind play area designed to meet the needs of every family.

Adults and children can join forces and dive into a world of exciting learning opportunities at the Discovery Spot. A few exhibits that visitors can look forward to include:
- Immerse yourself in the Sketch & Release zone, where you can bring Florida’s incredible fish and sharks to life with just a digital paintbrush. Then, watch as your creations come alive in a digital ocean when you release them.
- Take your adventure to new heights on the Cloud Climber. This thrilling attraction allows you to walk on the wings of a suspended biplane, high above the exhibit floor.
- And don’t forget to visit the Juicing Factory! The swirling water in the washing station, brightly colored juicing tubes and whirling machinery pay homage to the Museum’s Great Gravity Clock standing proud in the Atrium.
Mark your calendars for August 4 and get ready for hands-on learning, fun and collaboration with your little ones!
