West Boca-ites who had to trek east to get a taste of the barbecued ribs, brisket, pork and chicken at Smokehouse Grill & Wingery on North Federal Highway will save time and gas money when Mark Uffer and Erik Frasco open their second modern barbecue joint in the old Thirsty Turtle site on Yamato Road.
July is the projected debut date for the new Smokehouse, which at more than 4,000 square feet is almost two-and-a-half times larger than its East Boca parent. It’s not just space to eat but space to smoke, as the new location will be able to dish up three times the ‘cue as the old. What that means where the meat hits the smoker is the ability to slow-cook some 2,000 pounds of meat at once, with times ranging from two to 19 hours.
All the usual barbecue suspects will be on the menu, along with such other popular Smokehouse items as pulled chicken salad, Buffalo shrimp basket, grilled mahi and fried mushrooms. There will also be a kids menu, good deals on lunch specials and a focus on family-friendly dishes.
