The housekeepers who neatly make up bed linens, the server who never forgets how a customer likes their steak cooked, or the maintenance worker who wastes no time to fix the A/C—they’re the backbone of the hospitality industry, one that feeds the economic engine for the region.
They’re also being recognized in a growing event hosted by the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, the Platinum Service Awards. With the next ceremony scheduled for Oct. 22, the chamber is on the lookout for the next winner.
In its inaugural year, Gladys Des Auguste, who has been a housekeeper at The Boca Raton for 40 years, was selected for the award. Last year’s winner was Eltaina Alcime, a server from the Polo Club of Boca Raton. They were selected for their attention to detail, service-minded attitude, and unshakable optimism.
“We celebrate the unsung heroes of our hospitality industry,” says Troy McLellan, CEO and president of the Boca Chamber. “Their dedication, skill, and unwavering service are the backbone of Boca Raton’s reputation as a premier destination to live, work, learn, and play.”
Hotels and country clubs in South Palm Beach County are invited to nominate an hourly employee for the Platinum Service Awards. This includes housekeepers, guest services, engineering/maintenance, front- and back-of-house in food and beverage services, culinary, recreation, safety and security, fitness, and golf/racket sports.
There’s also opportunities for area businesses to take part in the event as a sponsor; as the event grows, the planning committee hopes to be able to add a cash reward to the deserving winner.
This year’s Platinum Service Awards will be Oct. 22, 2025 at Boca West Country Club. Serving as honorary chairmen this year are Matt Linderman, CEO of Boca West Country Club, and George Petrocelli, director of catering at The Boca Raton.
