When Mary Csar announced her retirement from the Boca Raton Historical Society a few months ago, the community was curious who would be stepping into the role.
Today, it was officially announced that her successor is Olivia Hollaus, the society’s former president of the board and longtime volunteer.
“Mary has built an incredible foundation rooted in authenticity, connection, and pride,” Hollaus said in a press statement. “As Boca looks ahead to its next century, I’m excited to continue that legacy—ensuring our museum not only preserves the past but inspires the future.”
Born in Canada, Hollaus lived in Thailand before moving to Boca Raton when she was 9. After attending the University of Florida, she lived in China for 10 years and returned to her hometown in 2016. Since then, she has been involved with a number of local nonprofits, including the Boca Raton Historical Society. She served on the society’s board for six years, including two years as president, and helped promote family programming, collaborating with local businesses, and launching Summer Sips and Sounds with the Festival of the Arts.

Hollaus is the founder of the accessories brand Protect My Shoes. She was events manager at Boca magazine, a co-host on the Palm Paradise podcast, and is a lifestyle contributor to bocamag.com.
Csar told Boca magazine in the November/December issue that while she’s stepping down as director, she’ll be returning to her roots with the organization as a volunteer—especially with America’s 250th birthday coming up.
“Mary’s leadership has been transformative, and Olivia’s appointment signals a new chapter defined by innovation and forward momentum,” Denise Alman, president of the Boca Raton Historical Society Board of Trustees, said in a press statement. “As Boca Raton steps into its second century, the Historical Society is poised to continue honoring the past and shaping the future with purpose and passion.”
