A Venezualan interior designer and quartet of restaurant veterans from the Four Seasons Palm Beach have teamed up to open Pangea Bistro (10140 Forest Hill Blvd., 561/793-9394) in the sprawling Mall at Wellington Green.
Designer Grethel Boscan, former Four Seasons restaurant manager Jessica Nunez, and one-time resort chefs Ryan Vargas, David Siegler and Michael Rollinson have brought an eclectic blend of tropical, Asian and Latin cuisines to the stylish space, which takes full advantage of proprietor Boscan’s designer background.
The adventurous lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch menus certainly give the rather staid Wellington dining scene a swift kick in the pants, with dishes like Hawaiian ahi poke flatbread with sweet soy, wasabi drizzle and Asian slaw; guava-braised short ribs with Loxahatchee corn and edamame succotash; and blackened mahi with watermelon-pineapple-lychee-cucumber salad and lemongrass-kaffir lime vinaigrette.
There are some cool-sounding sammies at lunch too, like “the ultimate grilled queso†with four cheeses, heirloom tomatoes and truffle oil on brioche and a nouveau club that can be had with grilled chicken, chorizo and chipotle aioli. This is definitely one of the more interesting menus around; I’m looking forward to eating my way through it.
