Pizza, pasta, panini and classics of the Italian kitchen, served at wallet-friendly prices, are what’s on the menu at cozy little Piccolino (78 S. Federal Hwy., 561/395-8858), just off Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton.
Manager and chef Roberto Vacca, a graduate of Italian hotel school and seasoned restaurant veteran, moved from New York to open his new eatery, which seats 40 indoors and out in a warm, contemporary, earth-toned setting.
At lunch the menu sticks to salads, sandwiches, pastas and a handful of entrees, all around $10. The dinner menu is more extensive, with pastas like tortellini al prosciutto and fettucine all-Amatriciana, and entrees that range from chicken scarpariello to salmon with broccoli rabe and mushrooms. Most are priced between $15 and $20. House-made desserts are $6.
Piccolino, by the way, means “very small,” which is a very good thing when it comes to the cost of a meal.
