Carlos Santana’s Maria Maria Mexican restaurant was a washout but Boca’s Town Center mall will add a new eatery to its mix anyway with the debut Saturday, Nov. 13, of Pinon Grill (6000 Glades Rd., 561/391-7770), a contemporary American restaurant with a menu as multi-culti as the country itself.
The 8,000-square-foot space in the mall’s expansive Terrace channels Prairie School design with recessed wood ceilings, walnut slab community table, bronze pinon tree sculptures and a variety of artworks by American artists. There’s also a bar-lounge and indoor and outdoor seating.
The lengthy menu is as retro as wedge salad and filet mignon with sauce bearnaise and as trendy as Kobe beef sliders and Chilean sea bass with pesto. Culinary influences range from Asian (seared tuna salad, jumbo shrimp spring roll) to Tex-Mex (Sante Fe chicken soup, tuna tacos) to good ol’ American (braised short rib, she crab bisque). Entrees range from $18 to $32, with starters coming in between $9 and $13.
Pinon Grill will be open for lunch and dinner daily and Sunday brunch.
