Some weeks, I just can’t get it together to meal plan—I’m a mom! I get busy. I get tired. And inevitably, during those times, we end up spending a fortune going out to eat or ordering takeout.
Don’t get me wrong; my husband loves to cook and I don’t hate grocery shopping. But when a new private, on-demand chef service crossed my inbox, I immediately clicked through to learn more. Could this be the solution to feeding my family during the busiest weeks of the year?
We may live in the affluent city of Boca Raton, but we’re not exactly people who “have a chef.” However, we’re certainly the type of people who want one!
Meet Koki
The Uber of private chef services, Koki is here to complement your lifestyle by sending a chef to help you manage your weekday meals. What does that mean? Essentially, you pick the menu and a Koki chef will grocery shop at Whole Foods and Fresh Market, cook, pack up your meals for refrigerator storage, and clean up your kitchen after they’re done. Heaven!
You could also hire Koki (which means “chef” in Sudanese) to help you wow your friends and family for something like a special brunch or dinner. The Florida founder’s goal is to give back the time you spend cooking so you can spend time on other enjoyable experiences in your life, creating memories that last forever. I couldn’t agree more.
Our Experience
We decided to try out the Koki service for ourselves the day we got back from our spring break vacation. Let me tell you—there is nothing nicer than coming back from a trip and not having to cook dinner for your family for the next three nights. All I had to do prior was visit their website, choose my family size and menu (which rotates every two weeks), and schedule a day and time for the chef to arrive.
Koki charges you based on the size of your family with their most popular package costing $98 per meal for a family of 4. When you consider the planning, shopping, cooking and cleaning involved, this is an affordable splurge in my book.
And bonus? My daughter absolutely loved watching our chef at work. She took out her Play-Doh food set and pretended to chop and sauté along with her for almost an hour. It was adorable…and passed the time until we were ready to eat!
