Delray Beach’s municipal golf course is making significant progress in its renovation, with an estimated reopening date in late November 2026.
The long-overdue renovation was approved in October 2025 and is being financed with a revenue bond that will be paid back over time with user fees. A previous proposal that came before the City Commission two years prior would have consisted of a private-public partnership (P3) between the City and a developer, who would redevelop the course in exchange for a portion of the land. Six developers submitted proposals, but the commission at the time rejected those proposals due to backlash from residents and golfers.
Two years after the P3 fell through, a city consultant suggested a revenue bond backed by usage fees to avoid having taxpayers foot the bill. Two years later, the $33 million renovation is nearing completion.
The renovation touches every corner of the property, including 18 fully restored holes, new greens, irrigation and drainage systems, practice areas, cart paths, and more. The clubhouse is also undergoing a renovation to modernize the facility.
Under the consultant’s proposal, residents would pay $80 and non-residents would pay $105 for 18 holes during peak season (November through April). In the off season, rates would be $39 for residents and $47 for non-residents.
Trump endorses Scott Singer
President Donald Trump has given his endorsement to former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer as he runs against incumbent Jared Moskowitz for Florida’s newly redrawn 25th District—which includes Boca Raton and parts of Delray Beach.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “Scott will work hard to Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Brave Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”
Singer has tied himself to Trump in campaign ads over the past few months, touting himself as an “America First” Republican candidate who aligns with the Trump administration’s policies on immigration and support of Israel.
In a Facebook post, Singer said of the endorsement, “I look forward to building on your successes that have helped South Florida families: the biggest tax cuts in history, secure borders that made our streets safer, the biggest drop in violent crime ever, stronger defense, record employment, and standing with our ally Israel and against antisemitism.”
While Trump’s endorsement has helped candidates in Republican primaries—Trump didn’t endorse Singer until after the primary—it’s unclear if the endorsement will carry much weight in a general election. Trump’s approval rating is between 33 and 36 percent, according to two recent polls, and approval has dropped within his own party in light of the president’s war with Iran and a slew of policies that have contributed to inflation and higher prices for Americans.
To date, Singer has raised $2.2 million to Moskowitz’s $3 million.
Groundbreaking for east side of North Park
Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District commissioners were joined by Butters Construction & Development and city and county leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony at Boca Raton’s North Park.
The development of the park’s east end will include five-plus miles of walking and riding trails—some of which will include exercise equipment—as well as a dog park and a playground. Per a press release from the district, “When complete, more than 1,000 native trees will be added to the area east of NW 2nd Ave.”
The development complements another Butters Construction & Development project, Boca Paddle, which is expected to open in November.
Delray Beach selects consultant to address issues with municipal cemetery
Delray Beach residents over the past several months have complained to City officials during City Commission meetings of terrible conditions at the Delray Beach Municipal Ceremony. They have cited overgrowth, lack of space, damaged and misplaced graves, and more. This week, the Office of the City Manager announced that it has hired Kuehne Cemetery Consulting to review operations of the cemetery.
Per a press release from the City, the consultant will “examine cemetery operations, including grounds maintenance standards, organizational structure and responsibilities, customer service and communication practices, cemetery records and interment information, financial sustainability, fees and operating costs, as well as current and projected capacity, available inventory, future demand, development options and infrastructure needs.”
The cemetery is more than 120 years old and is the resting place for generations of the City’s Black residents.
Pompey Park groundbreaking
The community is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of Pompey Park this Thursday, Sept. 10.
In June, the city commission approved a maximum guaranteed price of nearly $60 million for CORE Construction to renovate the historic park. Amenities at the renovated park include an indoor running track, family pool, playground, multi-purpose field, and more. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. and refreshments will be provided.
