For over 40 years, this group of talented brass musicians has given us a vast variety of music that ranges from Baroque, to marches, to Dixieland, to jazz and Broadway.
This is the third time I have seen these talented five musicians from north of the border. They are wonderful emissary’s for their country; they were the first ensemble from the West to perform in The People’s Republic of China in 2010, as well as the first brass group to appear at Carnegie Hall.
Their wry sense of humor and presence belies the sophistication of these musicians who on Saturday played compositions that ranged from the Beetles, to Bach, to the opera Carmen. They made believers of those who thought the brass played second fiddle (no pun intended) to the strings.
The Festival of the Arts continues through this week at the Mizner Park Amphitheater and is a must to attend from its lectures to musical offerings. Call 561.368.8445 of visit www.centre4artsboca.com for detailed information and tickets.
