If you’ve always wanted to learn how to roll your own, on the second Saturday of every month from now until December, China Grill (1881 SE 17th St., 954/759-9950) in Fort Lauderdale is the place to be.
And I don’t mean rolling those funny cigarettes, either.
I mean sushi. From 3:30 to 5 p.m. the stylish modern Asian eatery in the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina tell you everything you ever wanted to know about sushi and sake. The class kicks off with a sake lesson and tasting, paired with dishes like tuna tartare on wonton crisps and salmon crudo. Then comes a lesson on sushi-making equipment, traditions and—most importantly—the rice. (After all, “sushi” translates to “vinegared rice.”)
After that is a hands-on demo of sushi rolling, some mixological sake cocktails and dessert. Cost is $59 per person and rezzies are essential.
