Boca Ratonians passing by downtown’s Sanborn Square on Federal Highway might have noticed something strange this week–a huge set of turquoise sunglasses facing the road.

The massive “Shades of Culture” have been placed in the park as the result of a partnership between the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County and the City of Boca Raton, and face Boca’s historic old town hall. The display will be in place for seven weeks–through June 8–in an effort to “encourage the community to see art through a different lens.”

The “Shades of Culture” measure 8 feet tall by 20 feet wide, and have made appearances at dozens of locations throughout Palm Beach County. Visitors are encouraged to share photos and selfies with the oversized specs on social media using the hashtag #palmbeachculture. Don’t forget to be safe when checking out the display in person–visitors are asked to maintain social distancing and practice safety measures as recommended by the CDC and Florida Department of Health.
