Yes, October is National Pork Month, and a pair of local restaurants have set out to honor the pig in all its gastronomic glory.
At Smokehouse Grill & Wingery (2257 N. Federal Hwy., Boca Raton, 561/391-9110) they’re dishing up daily porcine specials throughout the month.
Monday: $10 Pulled Pork Sliders (3) served with Smokehouse Mac ‘n Cheese (All Day)
Tuesday: $12 10 oz. Pork Rib Chop Specialty Meal served with Fire-Roasted Sweet Corn and Country Gravy (Dinner Only)
Wednesday: $5 Hand-Crafted Pork Sausage Sandwich, served with one side (Lunch Only)
Thursday: $12 Smokehouse Pork Pit-Pulled Pork and Pork Sausage served with two sides (Dinner Only)
Friday: $5 Carolina-Style Pulled Pork Sandwich, served with one side (Lunch Only)
Saturday: $12 Hand-Crafted Sausage and Peppers, served with Red Bliss-Caramelized Onion Smashed, Roasted Bell Peppers and Sweet Onions (All Day)
Sunday: $6 Pulled Pork Salad with fresh chopped greens, sweet onion, house-smoked bacon, tomato, and bleu cheese crumbles (All Day)
At Racks Downtown Eatery & Tavern (402 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, 561/395-1662) it’s all about the ribs. Platters of falling off the bone tender porky goodness (plus cole slaw) for $19.50 every Sunday night from 5 p.m. until they shut the doors.
They’re calling it Rock ‘n’ Roll Rib Night, pairing ribs with rock classics from the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties, and even a free pint of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer with each platter purchased.
Sounds like a pig-out.
