As the mom of a 3 year-old, I know I tend to focus on topics relating to Boca Raton’s youngest residents in this “Boca Mom Talk” column. Write what you know, isn’t that what they say? Well, something that I do know is that my daughter will be off to college sooner than I realize and I won’t be able to kiss her boo boos or wipe her forehead when she’s running a fever (unless she stays local of course—a Boca mom can only hope!).
That’s why I was thrilled to learn that a college clinic Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of healthcare experience and a mother of a current college student, decided to design a well-organized, dorm room first aid kit to help with life’s little emergencies.
The College Student First Aid Kit includes over 30 different medications, ointments, creams, drops, tools and wound care items. Basically, if your “baby” needs it, it’s in there.
General first aid kits tend not to be tailored to the specific needs of a college student. Most of these kids tend to experience very similar type illnesses and accidents. While no single kit can prepare for all of life’s emergencies, the College Student First Aid Kit is designed to address the most common health care needs of a college student.
Even though you know you won’t always be there to take care of your “baby” once they’re away at school, at least there’s one more way to help prepare them for unexpected, minor health issues. You can always baby them in person when they’re home in Boca Raton on holiday or summer break.
