The illustrious dining guide has announced it is welcoming Greater Fort Lauderdale, The Palm Beaches and St. Pete-Clearwater to its 2025 roster of destinations. Its stealthy inspectors will rank restaurants in these areas alongside those in Greater Miami, Orlando and Tampa. The guide also revealed that the selection will cover the entire state of Florida next year. Stars and rankings will be announced later this year. Last year, the ceremony was hosted by The Tampa EDITION hotel in April.
“Florida continues to raise the bar with its emerging culinary talent, international influences and the palpable passion of its local restaurant communities,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guides. “Over the past three years, we’ve seen the Florida selection grow and strengthen as our inspectors shined a spotlight on their discoveries. We look forward to exploring these new destinations and highlighting the excellence of their local restaurant scene.”
The guide began awarding stars in France in 1926 and finally crossed the Atlantic in 2005 with the release of its New York guide. Restaurants are evaluated based on the following criteria: quality of products, harmony of flavors, mastery of cooking techniques, the chef’s voice and personality as reflected in the cuisine, and consistency between visits and throughout the menu, as each restaurant is inspected several times a year.
