The summer doldrums are here and restaurants are dropping like unclimated Northerners in the season’s brutal heat and humidity.
Among the goners. . . Gulfstream Cafe in Jupiter, the former Tavern, which tried a menu of “Low Country classics” before going out with the tide. Raw Kitchen on the western end of Clematis Street has also bitten the (uncooked) dust. With the demise some months back of the cafe at Soma Center, that leaves West Palm with only Darbster dishing raw-slash-vegan fare.
Biz apparently wasn’t so hot for Rib Bizz, a hole-in-the-wall barbecue joint in a North Fed strip mall. They’re gone too. As is The Lodge, a funky beer ‘n’ burger spot on South Fed in Boca, where the wretchedness of the only burger I ate there was exceeded only by the surly indifference of the staff. Good riddance, guys, and hope the door gave your butts a good whack on the way out.
