On Wednesday, Aug. 1, chef Chris Miracolo will be turning out a four-course dinner celebrating the wines and foods of Provence (with a modern American twist) at Max’s Harvest (169 NE 2ndAve., 561/381-9970) in Delray Beach. Among the courses: the terrific Olli salami with fennel and Crenshaw melon agrodolce and Chateau D’Esclans 2011 “Whispering Angel,” and apricot-glazed duck breast with Parmesan risotto, cherry reduction and the D’Esclans rosé. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.; price is $89 per person. Call the restaurant for reservations.
Then on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Trattoria D’Angelo (9 SE 7thAve., 561/330-1237) top toque Ricky Piper will feature the cuisine of Rome and the wines of Northern Italy in what may be the beginning of a series of wine-themed dinners at the downtown Delray eatery. The four course meal costs $50 per person and includes such delectables as prosciutto di Parma with wine-poached pear and balsamic reduction with the Poderi Elia 2009 Barbera d’Asti, and braised lamb shank with roasted potatoes, saffron rice and the 2009 Podere Ciona Semifonte. You’ll need rezzies there too, so give the restaurant a call.
