We are counting our blessings this Thanksgiving and that certainly includes the moments we get to pause, gather, toast… and together, fundraise for those in need. Today’s Paige has a look at the late November Society Scene in Boca Raton!
Mayor’s Ball
The who’s who of Boca leaders and even live pink flamingos flocked to the 7th Annual Boca Raton Mayors Ball presented by the Rotary Club of Downtown Boca Raton. More than $320,000 was raised to support the health and wellness needs of local nonprofits and award recipients included ADT Security Services, the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, Eda and Cliff Viner for their scholarship foundation and Dr. Michael T.B. Dennis, founding chair of the dean’s Advisory Board for the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at FAU.
Men Giving Back
Fun and philanthropy—if only we all could keep things as simple as members of Men Giving Back! Members make an annual donation and award grants to Palm Beach County nonprofits that focus on children, education, mental health and food security. Semi-finalists enjoyed an awards night at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club complete with Clase Azul and Pappy Van Winkle tastings and the spinning of a wheel to determine which charities would be awarded the largest grants. The Toby Center, the HabCenter Boca Raton and the Elizabeth H. Faulk Foundation were the night’s top winners as they received $100,000 grants and all semi-finalists walked away with $10,000 in hand.
Impact 100 Palm Beach County
On the ladies side, the Impact 100 Palm Beach County gals gathered on some of South Florida’s best tennis courts to spread the good word about Impact 100 Palm Beach County. The Mix & Mingle tennis clinic was hosted by Impact member Courtney Dadas and led by The Boca Raton’s Director of Tennis, Erik Silver. Impact 100 Palm Beach County members collectively award grants to local nonprofit organizations. Several events are planned for the holidays so be sure to check out Impact’s event page for more information.
Local dancers to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Big Apple, here they come! Students from Boca Dance Studio and ProAm Dance Studio are set to join hundreds of other dancers from across America to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! The nearly 30 students fundraised for months for this trip by washing cars, babysitting, and holding bake sales. This will be the third time the Boca Dance Studio dancers have traveled to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the seventh time for the ProAm Dance Studio team. Look for our local dancers live on NBC, Thursday, Nov. 24 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM—they’ll be the ones dressed in reindeer costumes dancing under Spirit of America Productions.
