If breakfast is the most important meal of the day and a real lunch is a hallmark of a civilized society, what does that make brunch?

A good way to spend part of your weekend, according to a pair of local eateries.

At the brand-spanking-new Stephane’s (2006 NW Executive Center Circle, Boca Raton, 561/893-8838), local uber-chef John Belleme and crew are now dishing up Saturday and Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Look for sparkling wine cocktails, steak Benedict, soufflé-style omelets, pancakes, french toast and more, all a la carte.

At Max’s Harvest (169 NE 2ndAve., Delray Beach, 561/381-9970) chef Chris Miracolo & Co. will begin their Champagne brunch in October. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 they’ll be serving dishes like pork belly eggs Benedict, duck confit hash and banana bread french toast, not to mention fruit-infused bubbly drinks and a DIY Bloody Mary bar. A la carte here too.

And over at Café 155 at the swanky Colony Hotel (155 Hammon Ave., Palm Beach, 561/655-5430), the news isn’t about brunch but about breakfast and lunch. As in more menu items and longer hours.  Think fresh-baked croissants, scones and breakfast burritos, mini burgers, Chinese chicken salad and roast turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. New hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
