Bagels Over Berlin: Honor, Valor and the Jewish Airmen of WWII

In the 1930s, American Jews faced the dual threat of rising Nazism abroad and pervasive antisemitism and isolationism at home. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, thousands volunteered for military service, determined to defend their country and fight tyranny overseas.

This special program features a screening of the acclaimed documentary Bagels Over Berlin, followed by a discussion with the film’s director. Through powerful first-person accounts, discover the stories of 15 Jewish airmen who challenged the stereotypes of their time and flew dangerous daylight bombing missions over Nazi Germany, facing extraordinary risks and a devastating mortality rate.

Many of these courageous veterans later made their homes in Boca Raton, making this both a powerful chapter of American history and a deeply local story.
