Rock & Roll never sounded so good! Don Felder took to the stage at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Jan 28. to celebrate HomeSafe’s “Healing the Hurt” capital campaign. The former lead guitarist of the Eagles joined dozens of Boca area supporters for HomeSafe’s 20th Annual Classic Rock & Roll Party. HomeSafe serves victims of child abuse and domestic violence and is the only specialized residential therapy home in Southeast Florida.

From 70s rock & roll to 70s folk…! Many of us from Boca and beyond stepped into Palm Beach State College’s Duncan Theatre on Jan. 24 to jam to Croce classics. A.J. Croce, the son of the late Jim Croce, performed a complete set of legendary classics by his father, some of his own tunes and songs that influenced them both. A.J. Croce is celebrating his dad’s 50th Anniversary of the iconic album “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim.”

If only we all could dance like Montana Tucker! Award-winning singer-songwriter, dancer, actress, social influencer and Boca Raton native Montana Tucker headlined a multi-arts Concert-4-Kindness on Jan. 15 at FAU. Tucker performed alongside a strong roster of talent including FAU Director of Dance Clarence Brooks, internationally renowned bilingual artistic duo Briguel, Florida Singing Songs, Chorale Soleil, as well as local students and their mentors nurtured by the Boca Raton-based nonprofit Nat King Cole Generation Hope. Proceeds from the event benefited the future Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Holocaust and Jewish Studies building at FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. 

Open Court Serves Area Youth

Open Court served up support and tennis tips for area youth at its Inaugural Round Robin and Clinic on Jan. 22 at the The Boca Raton Racquet Club. The non-profit organization’s mission is to enrich the lives of youth through tennis and currently serves youth in the after-school and summer programs at the Milagro Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton. We all will soon be talking tennis as the Delray Beach Open is right around the corner! Tennis fans can see Australian Open semifinalist and Palm Beach County resident Tommy Paul, former Florida Gator and reigning NCAA champion Ben Shelton and many other tennis talents and greats at the Delray Beach Open, Feb. 10-19, at the Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center. The tournament is the first North American hard court event of the outdoor season, and one of just 10 ATP Tour events in the United States. The event features an ATP pro-am, Legends clinic and play, nonprofit clinics and special pricing for kids, seniors, first responders, nurses and military. Boca Raton Historical Society: Free Valentine’s Day Fun for the Kiddos!

Don’t miss Valentine’s Day crafting, Historical Society-style on Feb. 4! The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum is hosting a free Valentine’s project day at the next Free Fun Saturday. Local artist/teacher Michelle Sherman will lead the fun starting at 2 p.m. Celebrated for her watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, portraits and commissions, Sherman’s most recent watercolor series is called Windows into Boca Raton. The Museum is offering Free Fun Saturdays on the first Saturday of every month with waived admission fees to celebrate the arrival of the new Boca Raton Brightline Station.
