The City of Boca Raton is a finalist for Discover the Palm Beaches’ Providencia Award, one that recognizes municipalities and organizations that have made a major impact on the county’s tourism.

In honor of its centennial in 2025, Boca Raton hosted yearlong programming and partnered with area hotels, nonprofits and cultural institutions to celebrate. This included exhibits, collaborating with Prosperity Brewers to launch a centenni-ale, a new sign at Sanborn Square, a concert headlined by Weezer, and even a logo.

According to a centennial impact study conducted by the city:

  • 76.5 percent of Boca Raton’s residents were aware of the programming
  • 2 million Florida residents outside Boca Raton were aware of the programming
  • 44,000 residents and 6,000 non-residents attended centennial-related events
  • More than 21,000 residents participated in other initiatives hosted by the city, such as public art, Ode to Boca and storytelling
  • Centennial-related activities generated roughly $16.779 million in local spending.
  • The Centennial program generated 189 media mentions across online, television, and radio coverage—translating to earned media value of $8.7 million.
  • The centennial programing lead to 1,500 room nights at area hotels

The other finalists for the award are The Ben West Palm Beach and Visit Palm Beach.

“This year’s finalists represent the best of our community through exceptional hospitality, innovative programming and a commitment to enriching the experience of every traveler who visits,” said Milton Segarra, CDME, president and CEO of Discover the Palm Beaches.
