A Proactive Approach to Brain Health and Memory Care

After years of treating depression, anxiety, memory concerns, and cognitive decline, Dr. Ivan E. Cichowicz, a board-certified adult and geriatric psychiatrist, recognized how closely brain health is connected to sleep, mood, exercise, vascular health, metabolism, stress, and social connection. This inspired him to create Cognitiva Brain Health, a physician-led program focused on prevention, early detection, treatment, and long-term cognitive wellness.

Q. Who is COGNITIVA for?

A. COGNITIVA is for adults who want to protect or improve their memory, strengthen cognitive performance, establish a brain-health baseline, or better understand their risk for cognitive decline. It also supports people with mild cognitive symptoms, mild cognitive impairment, or dementia as well as their families and caregivers.

Q. What services does COGNITIVA offer?

A. Services include comprehensive brain-health evaluations, cognitive testing and monitoring, individualized treatment planning, educational programs, virtual groups, caregiver support, brain training, and guidance related to sleep, exercise, nutrition, mental health, vascular health, and other modifi able risk factors. Selected advanced options may include brain stimulation therapy, near-infrared light therapy, and other emerging brain-health technologies.

Q. When should someone begin evaluating their brain health?

A. Ideally, before major symptoms appear. Dr. Cichowicz encourages adults, particularly beginning in midlife, to think about cognitive evaluations the way they think about other preventive screenings.
“The brain deserves the same proactive attention we give the heart and the rest of the body,” Dr. Cichowicz says.
