Pediatrician-Concierge Medicine

A graduate of New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Douglas Barlow completed his residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and has cared for children ever since. His initial specialty interest was surgery, but as a medical student caring for the Spanish-speaking families of Bellevue Hospital, he found his calling at the bedside of children. More than three decades later, that path has led him to Marquis MD. “I want to know each child by name, not by a chart. That is what every family should be able to count on,” Dr. Barlow shares.

His dedication reaches beyond the exam room. He led pediatric care at a fi eld hospital in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina and served three tours as chief pediatrician in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. That same commitment continues at Marquis MD.

Q. What attracted you to join the Marquis MD practice?

A. With Marquis MD, I have unhurried time with the children and families in my care, so they receive thorough, personalized attention in a warm and welcoming environment.

Q. After more than three decades in pediatric practice, what advantages do you bring to Marquis MD?

A. I know the South Florida medical community well. I founded my practice in Boca Raton, served as Chief of Pediatrics at Boca Raton Community Hospital, was team pediatrician for the Florida Panthers, and helped establish the medical school at Florida Atlantic University. I remain fl uent in Spanish, and I bring the benefi ts of a wide range of experiences and relationships to Marquis MD.

Q. What makes you relatable to your young patients?

A. From the moment I walk into the room, I sit down in a rolling chair so we are at the same level. I stay engaged, and I let each child and their parents know I am here for them, not in a rush.
