Long-time local chef/restaurateur Tommy Wong has a new venture, a cozy, charming Asian-American eatery called Spicy Ginger (6020 N. Federal Hwy., 561/998-3388).

Wong has transformed the old Rib Bizz location—which, frankly, was fairly grim—into a sparkling, modestly stylish restaurant with a trio of small but smartly appointed dining rooms marked by hardwood floors, lots of dark wood trim, a two-tone paint job and a cute mural on a back wall.

The food ranges from traditional Chinese dishes like moo shu pork and Peking duck to Vietnamese-style spring rolls, Shanghai stuffed buns, seared-rare tuna with wasabi-soy sauce, salmon teriyaki and Thai-esque basil-garlic chicken. There’s also an American menu that features shrimp scampi, grilled lamb chops, New York strip steak and more.

Spicy Ginger is open for weekday lunch and daily dinner, with a good roster of under $10 lunch specials.
