Fannie’s Finds

Picked by Megan Kearney, editorial intern

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been shopping at Fannie’s Finds. What began as a small vintage store has blossomed into a chic, feminine and fashion-forward boutique for women of all ages. When you step through the front door, it becomes instantly impossible to leave empty-handed. Trust me, I’ve tried! With a wide variety of costume jewelry, clothing and accessories at affordable prices, Fannie’s is known for keeping up with the latest fashion trends and has something for everyone. A dedicated staff is always on the hunt for new and unique items, so the one-of-a-kind pieces you find at Fannie’s simply can’t be found anywhere else. Over the years, I’ve purchased countless gifts for friends and relatives, and continue to go back and see what’s new every chance I get!

The Delray Escape

Picked by John Thomason, managing editor

“Being trapped in a locked room with a bunch of strangers and having only an hour to escape before you’re captured or killed is no longer just the stuff of action movies or video games. Escape rooms, valued for their excitement, technical creativity and team-building bona fides, have swept the world in recent years, so it’s only natural that a bustling city like Delray Beach would eventually spawn its own. Situated on the second floor of an otherwise drab office building near Linton Boulevard and I-95, the Delray Escape transforms its offices into an Area 51-themed bunker, where participants act as undercover journalists caught up in the clandestine facility, forced to uncover clues among the countless objects hidden in or around the blown-up alien dolls, flak jackets, stray bullets and hazmat material. You have an hour to escape. My wife and I are proud to say we made it out in 37 minutes!”

“Forget StarKist. If you have a hankering for a tuna sandwich, go directly to Old Dixie Seafood, where you can buy tuna salad homemade from fresh yellowfin tuna. You’ll never go back to the can.”
