Boca Raton has chosen Terra Group and The Frisbie Group to redevelop the 30 acres around City Hall.

City council members approved the choice unanimously during Tuesday night’s meeting. Councilmember Andy Thomson was the only one to rank Related Ross first among the four bidders. He then backed Terra/Frisbie when the council made the choice official.

The decision ends the first phase of this effort to transform that dated section of downtown under a public-private partnership. The developer would build a city hall and community center and create a new public realm in exchange for building residential, retail and restaurant space and a hotel.

Next Wednesday, the city will hold an open house for the public to review Terra/Frisbie’s plan. The city hopes to approve an interim agreement with the company by March 18. Details of the plan could change between now and then.

I’ll have much more in my Thursday post.
